Sometimes hurt and betrayal can be the catalyst to bring two enemies together for a common cause， revenge。 That is the case with “Fated Blades” the third installment in the Kinsmen series。For many years the Baenas and the Adlers have reached a sort of common understanding。 It’s called avoidance of one another。 They are both killers and extremely good at it。 However， Matias Barnard is shocked with Ramona Adler appears in his office requesting a meeting。 She should have been killed before she even Sometimes hurt and betrayal can be the catalyst to bring two enemies together for a common cause， revenge。 That is the case with “Fated Blades” the third installment in the Kinsmen series。For many years the Baenas and the Adlers have reached a sort of common understanding。 It’s called avoidance of one another。 They are both killers and extremely good at it。 However， Matias Barnard is shocked with Ramona Adler appears in his office requesting a meeting。 She should have been killed before she even entered the building but the guards were wise enough to avoid a massacre at least for a short period of time。It seems Ramona has proof that Matias’ wife is having an affair with her husband。 While the affair is not really the important issue for both of them， the theft of their companies production secrets are unforgivable。 So Ramona and Matias decide to team up for a one time event to recover their assets。 As you know， success is the best revenge and they both will have their fill of it。This read was a beautiful dance of strategy and timely manipulation。 Ramona and Matias play to each other’s strength and it it beautiful to behold。 I enjoy the action and subterfuge。 My only problem was the romance was a little too quick and hard to believe。 It would have been better it’ll it stretched out in another 100 pages or so or in another installment。 That’s just my personal opinion。 One thing for sure， the writing duo of Ilona Andrews definitely have not lost their edge。 。。。more

This is not the best Ilona Andrew’s book…I’ve read， but still the book is a great example of their vast well of imagination。 I will re-read it again soon， and like most before， the second reading is 100x better。 Can’t wait for the next。

Action romance and so fun to readIlona Andrews has created yet another entrancing book。 It’s probably actually categorized as a novella and the story is set in their Kinsmen world （2 previous short stories reveal details about this world and its people）， but is unrelated to the previous stories。 The characters are well rounded and so very interesting and the plot builds nicely to a satisfying conclusion。 And there are technological aspects of this group of stories that are fascinating。 I will de Action romance and so fun to readIlona Andrews has created yet another entrancing book。 It’s probably actually categorized as a novella and the story is set in their Kinsmen world （2 previous short stories reveal details about this world and its people）， but is unrelated to the previous stories。 The characters are well rounded and so very interesting and the plot builds nicely to a satisfying conclusion。 And there are technological aspects of this group of stories that are fascinating。 I will definitely pick up the audiobook as well and hope for more stories set in the Kinsmen universe。 。。。more

Many thanks to the author for providing me a free copy through Netgalley in exchange of an honest review。OVERALLAbsolutely liked it。 Its shortness makes for a fast pacing but at the same time it doesn’t feel like it skips important information or undermines some of the more emotional moments。I highly recommend it for those that like fantasy and want to branch out into sci-fi。CHARACTERS:The two protagonists of the story are Ramona and Matias。Matias belongs to one of the most powerful families in Many thanks to the author for providing me a free copy through Netgalley in exchange of an honest review。OVERALLAbsolutely liked it。 Its shortness makes for a fast pacing but at the same time it doesn’t feel like it skips important information or undermines some of the more emotional moments。I highly recommend it for those that like fantasy and want to branch out into sci-fi。CHARACTERS:The two protagonists of the story are Ramona and Matias。Matias belongs to one of the most powerful families in Rada， he’s been leading his family business and family clan for a long time and he’s as ruthless and cunning as all the other big sharks swimming in the socioeconomic ocean。 His intensity and loyalty are what made me like him the most， seeing a few hints of humor once he relaxed enough around Ramona was the cherry on top。Ramona is the female counterpart of Matias， like him， she’s one of the bigger sharks， she reflects everything he is， but at the same time， I felt more emotionally connected to her because while。 Arias kept his emotions locked behind a vault door almost all the time， Ramona stayed connected to hers even while wearing an icy mask。Both of them being Secare （highly trained combatants with the access to biological energy weapons implanted I their forearms） and belonging to rivals families added an interesting layer of secrecy and conflict to their initial relationship， but as they got to know each other and peel back the layers， it becomes clear that they’re made for each other， which made the romance quite enjoyable。Honorable mentions goes to the smattering of secondary characters， they enriched the environment and story with their quips and personalities。 WORLD-BUILDING AND PLOT:The plot focuses on revenge and on fighting for the honor of the family。The protagonists are tasked with the retrieval of a very important packet of data and while they start as enemies， they soon discover that they’re what they crave in their personal lives， it’s pure rivals to lovers goodness。The world building is very intriguing: it has a lot of fantasy elements like magic and hierarchies but applied in a sci-fi context。 I admit that I’m not a huge sci-fi fan because I often feels like I’m being force fed a lot of niche terms that are common used in the genre but to a novice appear as obscure as a foreign language。 The beauty of this book is that while there are a few of those niche words sprinkled in， they are either explained or simplified so it’s easy to fully understand the concept and keep the immersion。WRITING:Ilona Andrews is a staple when it comes to easy， immersive writing。 Their writing style encompasses all the best qualities that make up for a great read: it’s funny， it’s emotional， it’s exciting， it’s reflecting， it’s intense…each scene has its own mood and the flowing from one scene to the other is seamlessly done。 。。。more

A Whole World in one NovellaThis was everything I’ve been waiting months for。 The Kinsman Universe is the one I go back to time and time again for good reason。 It is a vivid， exciting， and wonderful place to visit on a space adventure。 Thank you House Andrews for such a delightful read。 I should be cleaning my house for Thanksgiving but this was much more important and totally worth it ！！

Worth the wait！ I’ve been looking forward to this adventure since the first teaser。 I have read and reread the author’s other stories on this world and this one is a great next tale。 Two great protagonists who love their families and were raised to hate each other have to right the wrongs done to their families together。 It’s a great read。

to scream or to sigh？ Though it wasn’t a long book it was thoroughly satisfying。 The world building was so excellent that this book would be a great intro to the wondrous world of Ilona Andrews in general and the kinsmen universe in particular。 I’m a totally biased and card carrying member of the BDH， but that just means that my expectations were ridiculously high。 I’ve just finished my first read， I’m utterly enamored with the couple and I can’t decide whether to scream or to sigh。
